Let me tell you, yesterday i baked my own “UnBirthday Cake” and it came out De-li-ci-ous! It all started because I’m celebrating my 29th birthday (yikes!) at the end of the month, but since i no longer live in the same place as my whole family and I’m visiting until Friday we all thought it was an awesome idea to throw a small birthday gathering for me. 

Since i got married a few moths ago, I have a new-found, lets say interest, in cooking and baking, so I was really really looking forward to this thing i found on Pinterest: NAKED CAKES (or rustic cakes). 

I’m gonna be really honest with you, i cheated. I didn’t make the cake from scratch… there i said it! But I’ll tell you why, we decided to do the party merely 4 hours before the event. I actually didn’t have time to get all the stuff, so best idea ever? Get to your closest Walmart and buy some Betty Crocker’s chocolate cake. And so I did. But still I’m not a fan of the canned frosting and I wanted to do something a little bit special for myself; went online and found this gorgeous recipe of Raspberry Chocolate Cake.

And the rest is, well.. up there in the picture..! 

It didn’t came up as nice as I would’ve want it, but it was amazing.

My tip would be do it when you’re not rushing, because this was the reason it came out a little sloppy, I didn’t let the cake cool down entirely and when I added the topping it melted somehow :(

Anyhow.. I loved the experience of baking my own (Un)Birthday cake, and I promise that on my actual birthday I’ll make me a prettier one!

Déjenme contarles, ayer me hice mi propio pastel de “NoCumpleaños” y la verdad es que quedó De-Li-Cio-So! Todo empezó porque al final de este mes cumplo 29 años (yikes!), pero como ya no vivo en el mismo lugar que toda mi familia y estoy visitándolos hasta el siguiente viernes, pensamos que sería buena idea celebrarlo con ellos antes de que me vaya. 

Desde que me casé hace unos meses, he desarrollado cierto “interés” en la cocina y el horneado, y encontré en pinterest un post que moría por hacer: NAKED CAKES (o pastel rústico).

Pero seré honesta con ustedes: hice trampa! :| No hice el pastel desde cero.. Sí, ya lo dije. La verdad es que como decidimos hacer la celebración poco más de 4 hrs antes del evento, no tuve mucho tiempo para organizar todo; y cual fue la mejor idea? Ir al Walmart más cercano y comprar una cajita de pastel de chocolate de Betty Crocker. Y eso hice. Aún así, no soy especialmente fan del frosting en lata, y quería hacer algo un poquito más especial para mi, así que busqué y encontré esta fabulosa receta online: Raspberry Chocolate Cake.

Y bueno el resto es…tá ahi en la foto.. haha! 

No salió tan bonito como me hubiera gustado, pero estaba riquísimo.

Mi consejo sería hacerlo cuando no tengas tanta prisa (como yo tenía), porque eso no me permitió esperar a que el pan se enfriara completamente y cuando le puse el betún se derritió un poco y quedó muy aguado :(

De todos modos, me encantó hacer mi propio pastel de (No)Cumpleaños, y les prometo que en mi “Real” cumpleaños haré uno que quede más bonito!
